Auto Successes: Rolling skill checks shouldn’t be necessary for things you have better than a 50/50 chance of doing… Thus, for DC’s less than 5 + your ranks in that skill, rolling a check for that skill isn’t necessary unless I ask. (To be more clear about when this is the case, I will try and state the DC for a skill check before the roll is made. If the DC is low enough that you don’t think you need to roll for it just remind me and make sure cause I might not check beforehand.)

Intimidate: This skill can be based on (Cha), (Int), (Str) or (Con). They are different styles of intimidation altogether, and the player has to take ranks in each separately.

Sleight of Hand: This skill is also used to apply/use poison. It is usually a DC 15 check to apply poison to a weapon as a standard action. Using a full round action lowers it to DC 10. The Poison Use ability of the Assassin Prestige Class reduces the DC’s by 5. (However, rolling a 1 on a check to apply poison always fails, and rolling a 1 on an attack roll using a weapon means there is a chance you will poison yourself with it if you fumble.)

Crafting

Logical Reasoning: Regarding balance of money and economy, consider spell caster at the Max rate they can make items from feats. This assumes the highest level of caster and spell and item type. This also specifies the profit/saved and excludes item cost.

Level Day Week Year Item Creation
1 12g 5s 87g 5s 4,450g Scroll, 1×1×25 / 2
2 25g 175g 9,100g Scroll, 2×1×25 / 2
3 150g 1,050g 54,600g Potion, 3×2×50 / 2
4 200g 1,400g 72,800g Potion, 4×2×50 / 2
5 500g 3,500g 182,000g Arms&Armor, 1×1×2000 / 2

This means everyone besides the spell caster get shafted when it comes to item creation (and profits), not to mention raw ability in magical power. The following rules speed up item creation to a more acceptable speed; However you have to have a high skill level and/or burn some feats in order to achieve profits coming anywhere close to a caster.

Crafting Example:
The crafting explanation in the PHB lacks an example and can be prone to confusion. Let’s say you want to make some quivers of arrows with a DC 12. When rolling your crafting skill you need to hit or exceed DC 12, should you succeed you multiply your result against the DC. If I get a result of 15, 15×12=180 Silver worth for a week. A quiver is 1 gold, meaning you can make 18 quivers in a week, a week is seven days at 8 hours a day, so 180/56 = 3.21 silver an hour. End result is it takes you just over 3 hours to make a quiver.

For non spell casters the highest normal DC’s listed is 20 (Alchemy is 25 but that requires a spellcaster) this means you can earn 20×20 = 40g a minimum a week (5g a day). At first level this is fine, but at higher levels your skills will never naturally get anywhere near the amount needed to match a caster who crafts his own items (Unless the DC increases higher crafting results don’t greatly improve in returned silver).
